All residents and stakeholders are invited to Prestwood Community Association’s (AGM).

Time and venue: Monday 28th September, 7pm for 7.30pm, Prestwood Village Hall.

We shall report on the year gone by, including the #WeLovePrestwood survey and culminating in Prestwood Big Week and PrestFest.

Having reviewed finances and dealt with the ‘business’ of the meeting, we shall move on to sharing ideas about the future.

Moving forward with results of #WeLovePrestwood survey

PCA is very pleased to have residents’ wishes to help guide its activities. More than 300 respondents shared opinions and very many excellent ideas through PCA’s #WeLovePrestwood survey this summer.

Some suggestions are in areas in which PCA is already active; in such cases, relatively quick progress should be possible. More aspirational ideas, where practicable, will require research, perhaps significant funding and involvement of external resource; so these would take longer.

Where proposals are beyond PCA’s immediate remit, positive results may be achieved through coordination with local authorities and organisations.

PCA’s web presence, through its website and social media, may provide information to enable PCA to become more involved. Periodic meetings may also be useful.

Discussion will include initiatives such as:

  • Events to bring community together. PrestFest and the Big Week, in their second year, were enjoyed by hundreds of residents.
  • Protect and promote improvement of the local environment, working with organisations such as Prestwood Nature.
  • Continue seeking a long-term solution for Sheepwash Pond.
  • Inform on planning issues, comment where Prestwood is affected, and start a planning subgroup if there is sufficient support.
  • Continue building links with other organisations to support Prestwood and its residents of all ages.
  • Use PCA’s voice to highlight problems to authorities.
  • Effective use of PCA’s web presence (www.prestwoodcommunity.uk and social media) to inform residents of PCA’s work and wider issues.

Can you contribute some time and skills?

Obviously, more volunteers can help PCA achieve more. PCA needs to present a clear vision of how volunteers can make all-important contributions to its work. Many survey respondents indicated a willingness to help and are being contacted directly. Opportunities will also be presented at the AGM.

The #WeLovePrestwood survey showed that Prestwood is a friendly and active community, so to anybody who wants to get involved, please join us at the AGM, and/or get in touch via info@prestwoodcommunity.uk
