As part of Prestwood’s Big Week, PCA is organising a village walk on the evening of Wednesday 17th June.
The purpose is to get residents together for a convivial walk, taking around an hour and a half. Please bring dogs and children (perhaps not toddlers). Karen van Oostrum, of Prestwood Nature, will accompany us and give us the benefit of her insights along the way.
We shall meet up on Chequers Parade outside the Post Office, and the walk will terminate at The Chequers Tree pub. Our route will be almost entirely on public footpaths and pavements. The terrain is largely level and unchallenging, but we would recommend stout boots or shoes.
We shall walk a short distance along Wycombe Road, crossing to the footpath opposite Sixty Acres Road. We shall then walk alongside fields down to the edge of Nanfan Wood, before turning up in the direction of Hangings Lane. Turning up Greenlands Lane, we shall pass briefly through Lodge Wood, and then down through the allotments taking in Prestwood Nature’s Community Orchard and Pollinator-friendly Garden, and Prestwood Community Fridge’s ‘Fridge Patch’. Turning along Kiln Road, we will look in on the Sheepwash Pond, a long-term project involving PCA with Prestwood Nature, and then on to the Chequers Tree.
