This pavement clearing exercise is a timely reminder, ahead of PCA’s AGM, of the sort of work residents requested in the #WeLovePrestwood survey.
PCA’s AGM will be held on Monday 28th September. Venue: Prestwood Village Hall. Time: 7pm.
YOU SAID: “Improve the roads and pavements – they are a priority”.
On Tuesday 22nd September, a party of four Committee members (York, Steve, Jane, Robert) worked on two stretches of overgrown pavement either side of the junction of Gryms Dyke and Honor Road. From the time-lapse video, you can see how much soil and turf needed to be removed until the original concrete borders of the pathway were exposed.
This situation is prevalent across Prestwood, as expressed by many survey responses. In practical terms it should be noted that this particular work entailed around 9 ‘man hours’, and the carrying away of quantities of heavy turf and soil. So it can only be an example of what could be achieved.
PCA can help coordinate such works, and it may be that residents can help speed up works by, for example, loaning or volunteering with a mechanical edger. If you are interested, then please contact us at info@prestwoodcommunity.uk. PCA will also look to see if any bodies or organisations can be identified, which may be able to help – but this may not be easy!
STOP PRESS: we note that from Monday 5th October 2026, for an estimated 16 calendar days, there will be Footway Reconstruction works from Blacksmiths Lane to Maybush Gardens (CO-OP side only). This has been announced by Buckinghamshire Council, and will involve daytime traffic lights.
The potential for these, and other works around the village will be one of the topics for conversation at PCA’s AGM. This will be held at Prestwood Village Hall from 7pm on Monday 28th September.
